FAQ's About Learning Spanish At Studio Español

You can read the answer by clicking each question

How many students are in each class?

Generally, classes at the Studio consist between six students and twelve students for optimal Spanish learning.

How is Studio Español different from other Spanish learning programs?

Our methodology is based on conversations and we strive to create a relaxed and fun environment. Conversation is the natural way we all learn our native language, and it is no different with Spanish learning. Students practice speaking, listening, reading and writing in Spanish. It is a process and we promise to make the journey of learning Spanish fun and enjoyable.

How can I find out when specific classes meet?

We have several regular group times at our studio but we encourage you to email us at info@spanishinternational.com or call us at 248-971-0465 for the most up to date schedule of classes or to learn more about our Spanish immersion programs in Birmingham.

How do I know what level I should be in?

New students may try a group that the instructor recommends and that fits their schedule. If the student thinks her/his level is below or above that particular group, she/he may try another group.

What is the make up policy for small group classes?

We understand that it may not always be possible to make every group class, but our goal is to help you learn Spanish even amidst a busy life. Therefore, you are most welcome to make up two group classes per series. You may attend a make up class the same week with a different group where there is an available space. The group may be at a different level. Please check with us regarding the schedule of available classes and time.

Do you recommend any Spanish software such as Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone?

There are dozens of software and audio packages that you can select from to practice but, we feel, nothing replaces a real Spanish native instructor live when it comes to learning Spanish. Click here for free Spanish online resources.

How long will it take me to learn to speak Spanish?

Students are encouraged to speak Spanish from the very first day of class. Learning Spanish depends on the individual but, based on our experience, most students are able to carry a simple conversation after completing the three to four series.

Will I need textbooks? Where can they be purchased?

Books may be purchased at the time of registration. If you register by phone or online, you may pay for your books when you register and pick them up before your first class.

How long is each series?

Each series at our studio is usually 6 to 8 weeks. Most groups meet once per week for one and a half hour.

Are the instructors native Spanish speakers?

Yes, all of our instructors are native Spanish speakers from different Spanish countries. We believe this improves the Spanish learning experience.

What is the cancellation policy for private tutoring?

Please take a few minutes to review our 24 hour cancellation policy so you understand why we must adhere to it without exceptions.

Private tutoring sessions MUST be canceled 24 hours or more prior to the scheduled session time. If a student cancels in less than 24 hours, the student will still be billed for the missed class. When a student cancels, in many instances, a tutor is left with an empty hour.

We are proud that we have been able to establish a special, personal, professional, and working relationship with our students and their families. As a result of this “comfort zone,” many students/parents feel that we should be able to waive the cancellation fee. If we waived the fee for every student that forgot an appointment or had an unexpected emergency, then we honestly could not stay in business and provide the quality of services we provide.

We appreciate your cooperation and would like to thank you in advance for respecting our time as professionals.

Will I receive a certificate after completing a class?

Students may request a certificate of completion at the end of each semester of Spanish learning.
